Islamabad: Shehbaz Sharif returns as prime minister for second time, With 201 votes in the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif, the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), was elected to a second term as prime minister, becoming the nation’s 24th prime minister.

Declared by Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq in the face of protests from SIC legislators, Shehbaz’s win confirms that he is the only person to be appointed PM for a second time in a row.

Shehbaz, who is supported by seven parties in addition to the PML-N, including as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), and others, thanked his partners for their steadfast support and praised PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif for his nomination.

Shehbaz acknowledged the country’s long history of political upheaval, paid tribute to former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, and gently criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for opposing the organization’s methods in his inaugural address.

Discussing issues affecting the national economy, Shehbaz emphasized the need for cooperation to overcome obstacles, especially in the financial, energy and agricultural sectors, Among his proposals are restructuring the energy sector,  cyclical debt relief and encouraging trade to spur economic growth.

He also promised to simplify government procedures, promote gender equality and implement an inclusive foreign policy, Shehbaz raised his hand in protest, emphasizing the point, With Shehbaz coming to power, Pakistan is preparing to open a new chapter in its political landscape, marked by promises of reform, unity and progress.
