Bollywood Star Saif Ali Khan Hospitalised after he was stabbed during an attempted burglary outside his Mumbai residence in the early hours of Thursday, as reported by Indian media. The actor is currently hospitalised and undergoing treatment.
The Pataudi family issued an official statement confirming the incident, according to Filmfare. “There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to remain patient. It is a police matter, and we will provide updates as the situation unfolds.”
Kareena Kapoor Khan’s team also released a statement addressing the incident. “A burglary was attempted at Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif sustained an arm injury and is undergoing a procedure at the hospital. The rest of the family is safe. We urge the media and fans to refrain from speculation, as the police are conducting their investigation. Thank you for your concern.”
Dr Niraj Uttamani, the chief operating officer of Lilavati Hospital, where Saif is being treated, revealed that the actor suffered six stab wounds, two of which were severe. He was admitted to the hospital at 3:30 a.m. after being attacked by an unidentified individual at his Bandra home.
Hospital sources told Hindustan Times that one of the injuries required 10 stitches, but fortunately, it did not affect any vital organs or the spine. It was reported that Saif was injured while trying to prevent a robbery.
The Bandra Police have detained three suspects in connection with the incident and are actively investigating. Meanwhile, the search for the main assailant, who fled the scene, continues, according to Reuters.
The attack has sparked widespread concern about security, especially for high-profile individuals. Actor and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt voiced her concerns on social media platform X, stating, “The city, particularly the suburbs, has never felt so unsafe.” Similarly, Clyde Crasto, spokesperson for the Nationalist Congress Party, questioned the state of public safety, saying, “If high-profile individuals with security can be attacked, what hope is there for ordinary citizens?”
Calls for enhanced police presence and improved security measures have grown louder following the incident, with many urging authorities to take swift action to prevent such occurrences in the future.
