Google has officially introduced Google Wallet in Pakistan, marking a significant step forward in the country’s digital payments landscape. The app is now available for download on the Google Play Store, enabling users to store payment cards, boarding passes, and other essential digital items securely in one place.
A Secure & Convenient Payment Experience
Google Wallet aims to provide a safer, more efficient, and user-friendly payment experience. Users can tap and pay in stores, complete seamless online transactions, and store digital essentials like loyalty cards and tickets.
“Pakistan’s digital economy is evolving rapidly, and with Google Wallet, we’re introducing a secure and efficient way for people to make payments, shop, and travel,” said Farhan Qureshi, Google Pakistan’s Country Director.
Supported Banks & Digital Payment Providers
From today, users with cards from Bank AlFalah, Bank of Punjab, Faysal Bank Noor, HBL, JazzCash, Meezan Bank, and UBL can add them to Google Wallet for contactless payments on Android and Wear OS devices. More banks, including Allied Bank, easypaisa Digital Bank, JS Bank, and Zindigi, will join the platform soon.
Additionally, major online merchants like Onic, Gul Ahmed, Sana Safinaz, J., and KE will be available for transactions through PayFast’s integration with Google Pay.
Travel Made Easier with Google Wallet
Google Wallet also supports boarding passes from Batik Air and Thai Airways, helping travelers stay updated with flight details, gate changes, and departure times. Users can securely tap and pay overseas without needing a physical card.
For local travel, Bookme.pk users can save bus, train, and event tickets, while Sastaticket.pk users can store their flight boarding passes within the app.
Privacy & Security at the Core
Google Wallet prioritizes security and privacy, using industry-standard tokenization to keep transactions safe. When making payments, the app generates a unique digital token instead of sharing the actual card number. Additionally, screen lock protection ensures that only the device owner can access the Wallet.
How to Set Up Google Wallet in Pakistan
If a user already has a saved credit or debit card linked to their Google account, it will appear in Google Wallet automatically. New cards can be added by selecting “Add a Card,” accepting the issuer’s terms, and completing the verification process. Once added, the card will be tokenized and ready for use.
With the launch of Google Wallet, Pakistan takes another step towards digital financial inclusion, offering users a seamless and secure way to make transactions, store digital essentials, and experience the future of digital payments.
